How are Due Dates calculated?

Your due date is typically calculated by identifying the date of the first day of your LMP (Last Menstrual Period) and adding 40 weeks (about 9 months) onto that date.1

How does the Clearblue Due Date Calculator work?

The Clearblue Due Date calculator works similarly, but slightly different.

Their calculator asks for the first day of your Last Menstrual Period and the average length of your cycle to estimate the date of ovulation. It asks for these details because a woman can only become pregnant within 24 hours of ovulation due to the short lifespan of the egg if not fertilized by a sperm. As a result, the date of ovulation is an excellent predictor of the day conception took place. From that date, a due date can be projected out.2
