Today there are <a href=\"https:\/\/americanadoptions.com\/pregnant\/waiting_adoptive_families\">36 waiting adoptive families<\/a> for each 1 baby placed for adoption.<\/p><p>Through information and education, this trend can be reversed. \u201cAdoption Triad\u201d is a term for a group of people connected through adoption \u2014 the adopted person, adoptive parents, and first parents. The part of the <strong>adoption triad<\/strong> we hear the least about is the birth parent who makes the selfless, difficult, and loving decision to place a baby for adoption. Obria Medical Clinics near Dacula, located in Lawrenceville, Georgia is intentionally striving to provide its patients with accurate and timely information about this real option.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/arrowandroot.org\/\">Arrow + Root<\/a>, an organization that works with hopeful parents is partnering with Obria and other agencies to empower and equip staff and volunteers with the knowledge and confidence to thoughtfully navigate adoption conversations.<\/p><p>In a research study done by the <a href=\"https:\/\/guttmacher.org\/journals\/psrh\/2005\/reasons-us-women-have-abortions-quantitative-and-qualitative-perspectives\">Guttmacher Institute in New York<\/a>, the reasons most frequently cited for having an abortion were:<\/p><ul><li><strong>That having a child would interfere with a woman\u2019s education, work or ability to care for dependents (74%)<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>That she could not afford a baby now (73%)<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>That she did not want to be a single mother or was having relationship problems (48%)<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p>Realistically, everything achieved through having an abortion is also achievable through adoption.<\/p><p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Reasons Why Expectant Mothers Do Not Choose Adoption<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Reason 1:<\/strong> It would be easier to have an abortion than to make an adoption plan for a child I have carried for nine months and will have bonded with.<\/p><p><strong>Reality<\/strong>: \u201cAdoption is not a natural choice, but the redemptive aspect of adoption is that an expectant parent has the power to choose the loving family in which her baby will grow,\u201d said Mallory Fogas, owner of <a href=\"https:\/\/arrowandroot.org\/\">Arrow + Root<\/a>. Every adoption is unique and often evolves over time, according to Fogas. There is now a new understanding about the importance of the <a href=\"https:\/\/arrowandroot.org\/post\/it-s-not-a-gift\">Adoption Triad<\/a>, which acknowledges the significance of the expectant mother and the needs of the adopted child.<\/p><p><strong>Reason 2: <\/strong>Pregnancy soon becomes apparent to everyone, and I don\u2019t want to be judged for \u201cgiving up\u201d my baby.<\/p><p><strong>Reality:<\/strong>\u00a0 Adoption has been misrepresented as \u2018giving up\u2019 a child. In reality, the birth mother is actually giving her child a future by placing her baby in a family who will raise and nurture him.<\/p><p><strong>Reason 3: <\/strong>Even if I go through with placing my baby for adoption, how can I be sure that my child will be safe?<\/p><p><strong>Reality:<\/strong> Adoption is a legal, <strong>voluntary<\/strong> transference of parental rights from one parent to another. This is a permanent arrangement. Adoptive parents undergo a stringent process called a <strong>home study <\/strong>to ensure the child\u2019s safety in their permanent home.<\/p><p><strong>Reason 4:<\/strong> Adoption is abandonment.<\/p><p><strong>Reality: <\/strong>An actual definition of \u201cabandon\u201d is: \u201cto leave completely and finally; forsake utterly; desert\u201d. A woman who chooses adoption is <a href=\"https:\/\/americanadoptions.com\/adopt\/private_or_state_adoption\">actively involved in making a pla<\/a>n for her child\u2019s life.
